Rites Held For Mrs. Louise Gass
Mrs. Edwin Gass, nee Louise K. Kluss, the daughter of August and Katherine (Koevenig) Kluss, was born in Postville, on February 11, 1890. She was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville by the Rev. John Gass on March 28, 1891 and confirmed on July 10, 1925 by the Rev. E. T. Finck.
She was married to Edwin Gass on June 21, 1911. To this union were born two children.
She lived in Postville during the early years of her life, and later lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her parents. She was married in Milwaukee, and then the couple moved to a farm south of Postville, where she lived until the death of her husband in 1949. She then moved to West Union in 1951 to make her home with her son. She died suddenly of a heart attack on February 19, 1963 at the home of her son, at the age of 73 years and eight days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Joseph Kluss of Marquette.
She is survived by one son, LeRoy of West Union; one daughter, Mrs. Romelda Klein of Dubuque; two brothers, John Kluss of Castalia and Verni Kluss of Mason City; three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She had been a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville all of her life, and a member of the Women's organization of the church, during the time that she lived in Postville and was able to attend.
Funeral services were conducted at the Schutte Funeral Home on February 22, at 2:00, with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical Church of Postville, officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
