Jim L. Egan, 57, of Harpers Ferry died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at his home in rural Harpers Ferry. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 19 at St. Pius Catholic Church Cherry Mound in rural Harpers Ferry, with Fr. Louis Trzil and Fr. Bernard Grady officiating. Burial was held in the church cemetery. Martin Funeral, Waukon, assisted with arrangements.

James Leo Egan was born April 21, 1952 in Waukon, the son of John and Myrtle (Delaney) Egan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pius Catholic Church Cherry Mound in rural Harpers Ferry and attended Waterville School, graduating from Waukon High School in 1970. Jim worked at Meadowland Dairy and the Waukon Veterinary Clinic for several years. He farmed with his brother, Jerry, in Linton Township rural Harpers Ferry, where they raised dairy cows and grain. Jim was a lifetime member of St. Pius Catholic Church Cherry Mound.

Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Egan of Waukon; seven brothers, John (Deb) Egan of Luana, Gary (Cindy) Egan of Waukon, Joe (Mary) Egan of Waterville, Pat (Sarah) Egan of Monona, Mark (Lori) Egan of Waukon, Mike (Laurie) Egan of Monona, and Jerry Egan of Waterville; and a sister, Judy (Bruce) Cliff of Patch Grove, WI; 27 nieces and nephews; 23 great-nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Tom Rose of Monona. He was preceded in death by his father, John; a sister, Catherine Rose; and a sister-in-law, Joni Egan.

Casketbearers were Brian, Chad, Pat, Colin and Michael Egan, Dan Rose, Jason Cliff and Jeff Mennen.
