Ralph U. Flage was born to parents Benjamin and Meta (Held) Flage on their Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, Iowa farm on Jan. 1, 1917. He died march 12, 1994 at his Ludlow Township home. He was 77.

He was baptized and confirmed in German at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, where he was a lifelong member. He attended rural Ludlow #8 School. On April 29, 1941 he married Stella Snitker at Bethlehem Presbyterian. She died in 1962. On April 21, 1965 he married Edna McCracken Miller at Bethlehem Presbyterian.

He worked hard at his general farming operation which included dairy, livestock and grain. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and still did some trapping, even through this past fall. He liked this part of the country, and enjoyed taking rides throughout the area.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Stella; a brother, Albert Flage; and a sister, Esther Kiesau. Survivors include his wife, Edna; two sons, Gary (Marilyn) Flage of San Angelo, Texas, and Dean (Trudy) Flage of Sturgis, S. D.; a step-son, Loren (Becky) Miller of Lansing, two brothers, Leo (Jean) Flage and Irvin (Lois) Flage, all of Postville; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 16, 1994 at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Pastor Drue Robertson officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Casket bearers were Gary Brink, Wendell Meyers, David Adam, Lyle Guese, Randy Pausch and Duane Brandt. Arrangements were by Martin Funeral Home, Waukon, Iowa.
