Funeral services for Clara A. Fiet were held Sunday, July 30, 1995 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Rev. James Walker officiated. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery.
Clara Fiet, daughter of George and Inger (Kaasa) Olson, was born September 12, 1906 on her parent's farm in rural Waterville. She died July 27, 1995 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was 88 years old.
Clara attended Waterville Elementary School and graduated from Waukon High School. In March 1936, she was married to Fred D. "Andy" Fiet. To this union, three children, Shirlee, Mary Lou and Jack, were born.
Clara worked as a receptionist/secretary for Veterans Memorial Hospital and also for Dr. Alden Wiley for many years. In addition to that job, she did catering out of her home. Clara liked music, especially rag time, and could play the piano by ear. She also enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing cards and being with friends. Clara was an excellent cook and baker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Ruth Circle at the church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson Clark Thomas Monroe, her brothers, Hjalmar Olson, P. W. Olson, and Evelyn Olson, and her sisters, Tilda Huffey, Gunda Kolsrud and Inga Kvamme.
Surviving is her daughter Shirlee Livingood of Waukon, her daughter Mary Lou Monroe of New Ulm, Minnesota, and her son Jack Frost and his wife Lee, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Casketbearers were Walter Hagen, Bill Thomsom, Jim Olson, Rod Olson, George Huffey, Grant Olson, Jerry McEvilly and Barton Bulman.
