The funeral of Mrs. Ruby Elizabeth Rice was held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. from her home in Waukon and 2:30 at the Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Mr. Walter Martin officiated and burial was made in Oakland Cemetery. Martin Brother's funeral directors were in charge.
Pallbearers were Ray Schneider, R.J. Kibby, Ludvig Larson, Norbert Meehan, Ted Larson, and John Kaeser.
Ruby Rice was born Oct.16, 1882 and was the daughter of John Kaeser and Harriet Deremore Kaeser. She lived in Allamakee County and attended the local schools. She was a rural school teacher for several years. Oct.25, 1905 she married Frank Rice in Waterloo. They were the parents of three sons; Ellsworth E. Rice of Chicago, Ill.; Glen B. Rice and Donald E. Rice of Waukon. One son died in infancy.
All are surviving with two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also the following brothers and sisters, Charles and Samuel Kaeser, Mrs. John Schneider, Maude Kaeser, and a brother, Daniel J. Kaeser.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waukon.
note: the above obituary is error with regard to Maude Kaeser. She was born on 4 Aug 1895 and died on 20 Aug 1897. Alternatively, at the time of Ruby's death, her oldest sister, Hattie, was living.
