Funeral services were held for Rex Ewing on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996 at Garden City Methodist Church, Monona, Iowa. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of arrangements.

Rex Allen Ewing, son of Gene and Margie (Watson) Ewing, was born June 21, 1959 at Postville, Iowa. He graduated from MFL High School in 1977.

Rex was united in marriage to Celeste Welch on August 7, 1978, at Las Vegas, Nevada. He was self-employed in the plumbing and heating business. Rex served on the Monona City Council for 6 years, until 1995. He enjoyed stock car racing, bowling, boating and deer hunting.

Rex died Sunday, October 27, 1996 at his home in Monona. He was 37 years old.

Preceding him in death were a sister Nancy; his paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother.

Survivors include his wife, Celeste; one son Adam and one daughter, Jennifer; his parents, Gene and Margie Ewing, all of Monona; 2 sisters, Sandy (Jim) Shellhorn of Monona and Marsha (Mike) Reisner of Waukon; nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Bud Levenhagen, Todd Balekos, Mike Snitker, Jake Sweeney, Kevin Welch and Alvin Rodas. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Monona Fire Department and Living Last Supper cast and crew.
