Raymond L. Curran, age 78, from Eagan, MN, a loving husband, caring father, a dear friend to many, passed away peacefully with his entire family present Sunday, November 22, 2009 after a long battle with Amyloidosis.
Ray was born February 19, 1931 in Waukon, the son of William and Marguerite (Bohrer) Curran. He was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Church in Wexford. He lived on the family farm in Lafayette Township, Lansing, attended rural Lafayette Center School and graduated from Lansing Immaculate Conception High School in 1948. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1951, seeing action during the Korean War.
While still in the Navy, Ray married Virginia Kaufman of Lansing in San Diego, CA January 24, 1953. Upon returning home and farming for a few years, he attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis, MN, graduating in March 1959 and beginning his career in sheet metal. After retirement, Ray and Virginia traveled, visiting family and friends from Florida to North Dakota.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of 56 years; his children, daughter Joan Curran of Burnsville, MN, son Michael (Pamela) Curran and granddaughter Kaitlin of Oklahoma City, OK; son Roger (Rachel) Curran and grandsons Riley and Ian of Farmington, MN; a sister, Mary (Jerome) Soboleski of Wauwatosa, WI; and a brother, Patrick (Shari) Curran, of Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and James Curran; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Hudson and Norma Curran.Ray’s final resting place is at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, MN. We love you, Dad.
