Funeral services for Paul W. Kostman of Postville, Iowa, were held Thursday, May 3, 11 a.m. in Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. Rev. Terrance Hennesy officiated. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Paul William Kostman, son of Paul Theodore and Dora Frances (Cooper) Kostman, was born February 19, 1934, in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, near Postville. He died Monday, April 30, 1990 in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.
He graduated from Waukon High School in 1952. Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and had been stationed in Japan. On January 19, 1957, he married Joyce Treloar. The couple had 4 children.
On June 5, 1982, he was married to Betty J. Hoth in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville.
He assisted his parents in running the family farm throughout most of his lifetime. For the past 33 years he had been employed by Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative in Postville, and for the last several years he had been a Line Crew Foreman.
He is preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father-in-law, Edwin Kramer.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; 2 sons, Ronald of Minnesota City, MN and Matthew of Decorah; 2 daughters, Paula Kostman of Decorah and Laurie (Mrs. Steven Meyer) of Marshfield, WI; 2 step children, Fred Hoth of Waverly and Jacque (Mrs. Tim Mohs) of Winterset; 5 grandchildren, Megan Lynn, Patrick Scott and Jenna Marie Meyer and Kara and Kelsey Mohs; his parents, Paul and Dora Kostman, Waukon; a brother, Delmar (Janet) of Harpers Ferry; and 2 sisters, Caryl Leiran of Postville and Mrs. Neil (Delores) Howe of Bangor, WI.
He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville and the American Legion.
Casketbearers: Ralph Bacon, Mel Einck, Wayne Schroeder, Norman Leeman, James Foster, David Runyan, Jerome Lenth and Lloyd Thornton.
