Harpers Ferry Resident Dies

Ben H. Kolsrud, 88, of Harpers Ferry died Thursday, July 27, at the Postville hospital.

He was born October 4, 1889 in Allamakee county to Halvor and Caroline Megorden Kolsrud. He married Hulda Hunstad December 15, 1915 at Old East Paint Creek church. She died in 1975. He attended Waterville schools, was a farmer and a Pioneer seed corn salesman. He was on the Waterville school board and Waterville creamery board.

He is survived by three sons, Lloyd of Muscatine, John of Los Altos, CA and Bernard of Waukon; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Caryl) Hager of Postville, Mrs. M. K. (Lila) Kowalishen of Burbank, CA and Mrs. Charles (Jean) Wiedenmann of Monona, 16 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a brother Stanley of Waukon. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, Theodora and Betsy, and four brothers, Sever, Chris, Clarence and Harty.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 29 at 3 p.m. at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran church. The Rev. Paul Tobiason officiated with burial in the church cemetery.
