Donald Francis Grady, age 72, of Prairie du Chien, WI passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 7 at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, WI with Rev. James Weighner officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in New Albin.

Don was born December 26, 1936 in Waukon, the son of Cyril and Catherine (Rooney) Grady. He attended St. Patrick School in Waukon. Don joined the U.S. Armed Forces in 1954 and retired in 1976, serving in Germany, France, Korea, Viet Nam and Anchorage, AK.

He married Charlene Wild August 4, 1958 in Decorah. Don enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlene Grady of Prairie du Chien, WI; two sons, James of Taiwan and Jeff of Dodgeville, WI; three grandchildren, Tyler, Caleb and Cortney; sisters Shirley (Gary) Ambrose of Waverly, Mary Johnson of Minneapolis, MN, Denise (Gene) Ribby of Montour, Dixie (Ron) Nyheim of Marshalltown, and Jacque (Chuck) Buchanan of Neenah, WI; brothers Charles (Michele) Grady of Minneapolis, MN, Terrance (Elaine) Grady of Waukon, Don (Joan) Ewing of Lansing; his uncle, Cletus Rooney of Waukon; his aunt, Mary Cota of Evansdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jean Lerch; a brother-in-law, Tom Johnson; and many aunts and uncles.
