Mrs. Wm. Gordon, 84, Passed Away Thursday
Following a protracted period of failing health, Mrs. Wm. Gordon passed away at her home in this city on Thursday, August 25th, her demise marking the passing of one of the pioneer residents of this locality.
Katherine Gulick was born December 4, 1848, in Wisconsin and came to Iowa with her parents in 1866. In 1867 she was united in marriage with William Gordon, and after their marriage they located on a farm on Henderson Prairie, where they lived until September 29, 1920, when they removed to Postville to make their home. Mr. Gordon passed away July 22, 1922.
Mrs. Gordon is survived by seven sons: Wallace, Alfred, John, Howard, Robert and Frank, all of Postville, and Oscar of Waterloo. There are also 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Gordon was a quite and unassuming woman, who during a long residence in this locality made many friends and was known to all as a devoted wife and mother, a good friend and neighbor.
The funeral was held from the Community church in this city on last Sunday afternoon. Rev R. F. Galloway officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in Postville cemetery.
