Gertrude Belle Spague Kraft died at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon on Dec. 22, 1988. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 27 at Schultz's Funeral home with Pastor Harold Ward officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Aurora, IA.

Gertrude Kraft was born March 2, 1898 to parents Sydney and Edith Mettlin Sprague in Stanley, IA.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian faith. She received her education in the country school near Stanley.

July 18, 1917 she married Peter Charles Jacob Kraft. They had 2 daughters. The couple farmed near Stanley until retiring and moving to Oelwein.

Gertrude had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon since July, 1981.

Preceding her in death was her husband, who died June 1, 1973; a grandson, Peter Borland; 3 brothers, Howard, Jack and Ralph Sprague; and 4 sisters, Marjorie Allison, Dorothy Sprague, Nellie Vandenover and Grace Sprague.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Helen Skelton of Alice, TX and Lois Borland of Los Lunas, NM; 8 grandchildren, Richard, Clark, Roselyn Krueger, Lois Anne Elworth, Jeanine Vargason, Diane Clark, Nadine Bengel, Nancy Rodgers, Noreen Borland; many great grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Gertrude's grandchildren.
