Miles L. Connor
Miles L. (Mike) Connor, 81, died suddenly of a heart attack Friday, June 12, 1992 at Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.
The son of Ellen (Griffin) and James C. Connor, he was born February 25, 1911 in Warrens, Wisconsin. He graduated from Tomah, WI, high school and Wausau, WI. business college. On August 13, 1932, he was united in marriage to Virginia (Tiny) Peyton. She died June 9, 1980. Mike remarried January 28, 1983, and is survived by his wife Ruth Swan Connor; a daughter, Carole Ann Mooney of Marion; two sons, James P. of Waukon and Robert E. of Minneapolis; two sister, Mrs. Mayme Heser of Phoeniz, AZ, and Mrs. Esther Van DeVort of Boise, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, William, and Matthew, and three sisters, Nora, Theresa, and Loretta. Connor was a former Ford dealer, insurance agent, and real estate broker, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul, Kiwanis, Elks, Eagles, and Chamber of Commerce. He was the author of "The Strip," "Million to One," and numerous booklets. Formerly he was Mayor of Lansing, Allamakee County Democratic Chairman, and co-chairman for funds that built the Waukon Hospital after World War II. Funeral services were held Wednesday June 17, at Immaculate Conception Church, Lansing. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Bob Connor, Mike Connor, Scott Connor, Marty Connor, John Connor, Tim Connor, and Sean Mooney. Honorary pallbearers were Kim Connor Buchler, Kealy Connor Lonning, Kerry Connor Wacker, and Kathy Mara Connor. Burke Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, was in charge of the arrangements.Allamake Journal
