Death of Emil Schukei.

After a long period of illness and great suffering, during which time everything possible was done for his relief, including treatment at La Crosse and Iowa City, E. A. Schukei passed away at his home in Waukon last Thursday morning.

The deceased was born in Germany May 2, 1866, and came to this country with his parents at the age of sic years. His youthful days were passed on a farm near Eitzen, Minn. He came to Waukon in the early 80’s and learned the blacksmith trade in the M. Buggy show now occupied by the Keaveny farm implement business, and has since resided in Waukon.

He was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Meier in this city December 10, 1892, who, with a daughter, Miss Lydia of Waukon, and two sons, Clarence of Waterloo, Ia., two sons, Clarence of Waterloo, IA., and Leonard of Peoria, It., are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Charles Feldman of Elkader. Mr. Schukei was an honest, industrious man and held in high esteem by all who knew him.

Funeral services were helped at the home at 1:30 and at 2 o’clock at the Zion Reformed church, last Saturday, the pastor, the Rev. F. E. Stucki, officiating. Burial took place at the family log in Oakland cemetery.
