Harley Duane Owen, 89, of Eureka, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998 at the Maple Lawn Health Care Center in Eureka. Funeral services were held Friday, July 24 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Luke's Catholic Church with burial in Olio Cemetery.
He was born August 6, 1908 in Frankville, Iowa to Eugene and Melissa Webb Owen. He attended Postville High School and graduated from Cayne Electrical School in Chicago. On June 19, 1929 he married Frances Mae Burckart at McGregor, Iowa. She died March 10, 1989.
Harley was a World War II army veteran, serving with the Signal Corps in Puerto Rico.
He had worked for the Postville and Waterville Telephone Companies, was a resident inspector for Kellogg Switchboard and Supply CO., the Eureka Telephone Co. and GTE in Bloomington, retiring in 1971.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sisters, Mildred Owen and Alice Holly; one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Donald Williams of Topeka, Illinois and Ina Mae and her husband, Victor Meinecke of Two Harbors, Minnesota; three grandchildren; five great grandsons; and one great grandson.
