Eve Orr

Eve Orr, daughter of Darius and Bertha (Harris) Orr, was born November 14, 1898 at Postville, Iowa. She died at her home in Postville on Friday, November 4, 1994. She was 95 years old.

She graduated from the Postville High School in 1917. Eve played right guard on the girl's basketball team, as well as appearing in the school plays. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1921 with a B. A. in Education with special subjects in Physical Education and English.

Miss Orr taught physical education in Sheldon, Iowa from 1921 to 1925 and in Riverside, California from 1925 to 1929. In 1930 she became a physiotherapist, taking her training at Walter Reed Hospital. She was employed in the Veterans Hospitals at Castle Point, N.Y., Dayton, Ohio, Muskogee, Okla., East St. Louis, Ill. and St. Louis, Missouri. She had also been employed by the State of California at the Girls Correctional Facility in Corona where she supervised the planting of shrubs and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Esther Swenson, Ethel Opper and Edith Palas.

Funeral services for Eve Orr were held Monday, November 7, 1994 in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend Carl Stoldt of West Union officiated. The organist was Beverly Bacon and the soloist was Kim Schutte. The casket bearers were Hall M. Roberts, Matthew Erickson, James Lage, Charles Kelly, Donald Folsom and Kim Schutte.

The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
