Final Rites Held For Arthur Davis
Last rites were held Monday March 29 from Hanson funeral home in Beloit, Wis., for Arthur H. Davis, former Waukon resident who died March 26 in a Beloit hospital after an illness of three years. The Rev. Larsen was the officiating minister and interment was in Hoskins cemetery in Ecelsior, Wis. Members of the Eagles lodge of Madison, Wis., performed last rites at the funeral home and at the cemetery. Mr. Davis was born Oct. 28, 1894 in Waukon and was a son of John N. and Lodema Ewing Davis. He was educated in the Waukon schools and was employed as a city fireman in Dubuque for several years before moving to Beloit where he had resided for 49 years. In October of 1918 he married Madge Aldeman in Blue River, Wis. She died March 23, 1965. June 11, 1967 he married Helen Richardson in Janesville, Wis. She survives with a daughter Mrs. Ethel Sabinson of Beloit and a son Hartzel of Harvey, Ill. Four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a sister of Mrs. Evora Fiete of Waukon, and a brother Leo Davis of Ripon, Wis., also survive. Six brothers, Charles, Benjamin, Carl, Lester, Burl, and Jake and a sister Mrs. Leona Rupp preceded him in death. He was a member of the Baptist church in Beloit and of the Eagles lodge, of which he was state president in 1947. He was employed in police work until his retirement.Waukon Democrat
