Funeral services for Selma Neuhring, 82, were held Friday, Dec. 12, 1980 at 1 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. Howard Wolfgram officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia.
Selma Neuhring, daughter of John and Martha (Brandt) Schroeder, was born June 23, 1898 near Castalia. She died Dec. 9, 1980 at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Mason City, Iowa.
She was confirmed April 7, 1912 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia and attended the Castalia School. July 3, 1919 she was married to Alvin Neuhring at Decorah. Selma and Alvin went to Murdo, S. D. to work on a farm and then moved back to Postville. In 1929 they moved to Mason City where she worked at Swift Produce.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1972; a daughter, Ruth in 1942; and a son, Leonard in 1979; two brothers, Herbert Schroeder and Louie Brandt; and four sisters, Emma Koenig, Elsie Schultz, Florence Preuss and Ruth Weaver.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Adam (Marcelle) Heagel of Kensett, Iowa; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Clara Arndt, of Nora Springs, Iowa.

She died December 9, at St. Joseph`s Mercy Hospital, Mason City. She was confirmed on April 7, 1912 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia and attended the Castalia school.
On July 3, 1919 she was married to Alvin Neuhring at Decorah. To this union three children were born. Selma and Alvin Neuhring went to Murdo, S.D. to work on a farm and then moved back to Postville. In 1929, they moved to Mason City, where she worked at Swift Produce.
