The community was shocked last Saturday evening by the sudden announcement that Marshal McDonald was dead. Few knew that he was sick and those knowing of it did not think it serious. Deceased was born in Cherry Mound about forty-nine years ago. He was married to Rose Sawyer about twelve years ago. He resided in Waukon and other places for some years but has been a resident of this place for about eight years. He has been city marshal and weighmaster for the last five years. Besides his wife he leaves five young sons and two brothers to mourn his loss. Burial took place in Cherry Mound, Tuesday, after Mass said by Rev. M. Sheehan in St. Ann's Church. May his soul rest in peace.
