Mrs. Fred D. (Etta J.) Dawson, 84, of 687 Kane St., died at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at home surrounded by her family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1918, in Waukon, Iowa, daughter of Herschel and Julia (Williams) Stone. She married Fred D. Dawson in September 1938; he died on Aug. 20, 1981.
She was employed as a food manager for Kmart, Montgomery Wards and last at Woolworth's until her retirement in 1980.
She was an avid bowler and a member of the Dubuque Women's Bowling Association. She enjoyed Bingo, gambling, cards and Yatzee. She especially cherished time spent with her family.
Surviving are three daughters, Judy A. (John) Bisdorf, of Dubuque, Kathy M. (Gary) Livingston, of Janesville, Wis., and Sarah J. (Bill) Ludovissy, of Dubuque; a son, James J. Dawson, Fort Myers, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Dawson, of Dubuque; a son-in-law, David Beireis, of Dubuque; two sisters, Georgia Glaus, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Rita Murphy, of Clinton, Iowa; and two brothers, Donald "Bud" Stone, of Waukon, Iowa, and Thomas (Ethel) Stone, of Waukon; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Dawson, of Dubuque.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Beireis; two sons, Michael Dawson and Patrick Dawson; a granddaughter, Gabrielle M. Belken; two sisters and three brothers
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, 2255 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52002.
