LARREY COATES
Services for Larrey Coates were Tuesday, December 10, at 2:30 p.m. from the Forest Mills United Methodist Church with Rev. Curtis H. Webster officiating. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery in Franklin Township.
Larrey Coates, son of Arch and Lillian (Gilson) Coates was born at Postville, Iowa February 7, 1899 and passed away at the Veterans' Memorial Hospital, December 8, 1968. He received his education in the rural schools of this county and later moved to Kansas where he completed his education
On August 6, 1926 he was united in marriage to Patricia Wolodko, of Portland, Oregon. To this union was born three children: Laura, Mrs. Donald Plummer, of Kansas City, Missouri; Carl, of Waukon; and Sharon, Mrs. David Redford, of Kansas City, Missouri.
Mr. Coates was trained as an electrician and pursued this occupation all his life. He was affiliated with "The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers." When he retired he was a member of 135 of La Crosse, Wisconsin. He had been in failing health for some time remaining at his home where he was cared for by his wife. He was a veteran of World War I.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and a sister, who died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Mrs. Lillian Coates, his wife and three children; also two children from a former marriage: Leslie A. Coates of Salina, Kansas, and Jean, Mrs. O. H. Newcomer of Panarama City, California; 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Kleinow and Mrs. Edward Johnson of Prosser, Washington.
