Long-time Waukon service station operator and employee, Hubert Gilman Hermanson, 76, died Monday, February 6, at home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 8, at 11 a.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marlyn Hansing officiating. Burial was in the English Bench Cemetery.
He was born May 16, 1907, at Maddock, North Dakota, the son of Henry and Julia (Hellsvig) Hermanson, and married Edna Reeder in Waukon December 12, 1928. She survives, as does their daughter, Mrs. Truman (Donna) Wurtzel of Waukon; their sons, Hubert R. of Cedar Rapids, and Bernard D. of Sumner; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Muranda Edwardson and Leland Hermanson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Gladys Drake and Viola Berger of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Vernon Hermanson of Taylor Falls, Minnesota.
Two sisters, Thelma and Rosella, and two brothers, in infancy, preceded him in death.
He was educated in the local schools, and was a member of St. John’s.
Casket bearers were Rick, Scott, Jeff, Clark, Erik and Aaron Hermanson and Steve Wurtzel.
Martin Funeral Home of Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.
