Adam Funeral At Bethlehem Church Monday
The funeral of William Simon Adam of Ludlow township was held at Bethlehem Presbyterian church Monday afternoon of this week. The pastor, Paul Gabrielson officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arnold Ludeking, Dervin Ludeking, Ronald Ludeking, Merlin Hansmeier, Marvin Adam and Ernest Bjerke.
Mr. Adam died Sept. 23. He had been a hospital patient 17 days following a stroke.
Born Feb. 8, 1880 in Quincy, Ill., Adam was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Adam. He had spent his early years at Higginsville, Mo., and moved to Allamakee county when he was abut 12 years old. He had lived in Ludlow township since then. He and Mary Stock were married Dec. 17, 1903. She preceded him in death. The children are Mrs. John (Helen) Hansmeier of Waukon, the late Mrs. Arthur (Edna) Grotegut of Waukon, Mrs. Clarence (Martha) Ludeking of Decorah, Walter and Elmer Adam of Postville. There are 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
There are two sisters, Mrs. August Nagel of Waukon, and Mrs. John Klein of Delavan, Wis.
A farmer, Mr. Adam was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian church, where last rites were held.

Funeral services were held Monday, 2:00 p.m., at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church of Ludlow for William A. Adam, 81, who passed away Saturday morning at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville. The Rev. Paul Gabrielson, pastor of the church, was in charge of the rites.
William Simon Adam, son Simon and Henrietta Shafer Adam, was born in Quincy, Illinois on February 8, 1880. He died Saturday morning, September 23, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville at the age of 81.
He was received into membership of the Bethlehem Church of Ludlow township as one of its charter members on January 23, 1898. He was the last living charter member of the church.
He was married on December 17, 1903 to Mary Stock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Edna, Mrs. Arthur Grotegut; four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Hansmeier and Mrs. Clarence Ludeking; two sons, Walter and Elmer, 13 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
