May 21, 1902Obituary
John Kaeser was born in Bern, Switzerland, January 19, 1818, and died May 15, 1902, at the ripe old age of 84 years. He was married in Bern, Switzerland, to Elizabeth Beller(Bahler), on Feb. 8, 1840 and settled in Dubuque in 1854, coming to Allamakee County in 1855, where he spent the remainder of his life. His wife died in 1883.
He was apparently well until a few days before he died, old age being the cause of his death. The funeral occurred at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Vannice preaching the funeral sermon, and he was laid to rest beside his wife in Makee Cemetery.
He leaves to mourn his loss seven children, five girls and two boys; J.J., Rudy, Annie, Emma, Caroline, and Mrs. Joseph Schreiber, all at or near home, and Mrs. John Spring, of Madison, Wisconsin, all of whom were present. He also leaves 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kaeser was a good, honest citizen, kind neighbor, and affectionate father, and loved by all who knew him.
