John J. "Joe" Manning, 59, of Lansing, died on Sunday August 31, at St. Francis Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis. after a long illness.
He was born October 11, 1920 at Wexford, the son of Patrick and Louise (Cota) Manning. He was married to Marguerite Mullarkey on October 14, 1941 at Wexford. He was a veteran of World War II and worked for Brennan Construction Co. of LaCrosse.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Michael and Kenneth of Lansing; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Judy) Steiber of Lansing and Kris at home; three brothers, Harold, Leo and James, all of Lansing; and three sisters, Mrs. Leo (Marcella) Mullarkey of Lansing, and Mrs. George (Mary) Hammell and Mrs. Eleanor Hammell, both of New Albin; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parent and one brother.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 3, 1980 at 10:30 a.m. at I.C. Church in Wexford. The Rev. Carl Manternach officiated, with burial in the church cemetery. Military rites were held at graveside conducted by the Lansing American Legion Post #50.
The Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
