The death of Mrs. George Doughty occured last Wednesday morning in a hospital at Oak Park, ILL. She had gone to that city from Maquoketa, Ia, where she makes her home with a daughter only a couple of weeks ago, to visit her sons. While in Oak Park she was stricken with pneumonia and passed away. The remains were taken to Maquoketa the next day.
Desceased was born Emma Reed in Lansing Ia., March 22, 1874. She was married to George Doughty on March 9, 1898 and their home was made in Fayette until this fall when she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. L. C. Schroeder of Maquoketa. Her husband preceded her in death 4 years ago.
Besides Mrs. Schroededer she is survived by two daughters, Mrs Juliet Stoner of Oklahoma City, OK, and Mrs. Harriet Flemming or Miami, FL; Three sons, Forrest and Sherman of Maywood Ill, and Reedof DeWitt, IA, and the following brothers and sisters who also mourn her departure: Mrs. Henry Rippe, New Albin, IA, Richard Reed, St. Cloud, MN, James and Joe Reed, Mrs Alfred Magnusson, and Mrs. Edwin Cooper Sr, all of Lansing.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the M.E.church in Maquoketa and burial later that day in Fayette.
Lansing relatives who attended the services were Mr. ad Mrs. Curtis Lenz, and her mother, Mrs. Edwin Cooper Sr, driving down Friday evening; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Magnusson of Stronghurst, Ill, who drove down Saturday morning, accompanied by Mrs. Edwin Cooper Jr, of Lansing.
