1898 -
Sad and irreparable is the loss which Stewart Cooper of this city, sustained Saturday, in the death of his good wife. Deceased had ben ailing but two or three days with Peritonitis and but a few knew she was ill until her demise was announced. She suffered terribly for some time but the end came as peaceful as the setting of the evening sun about 11:30 o'clock Saturday morning, and without a sigh or murmur she closed her eyes to earthly scenes and solved the great mystery of eternity, which may well terrify the best, and bravest, and holiest of us all.

Her maiden name was Mary Phillippi, and her age 26 years. She was married merely 5 years ago, and leaves a husband and three little boys who will never know a mothers love, besides an aged mother, two sisters, and three brothers to mourn the great loss.

The funeral Monday aternoon from the Presbyterian church was largely attended and among many floral offerings of friends was a beautiful wreath contributed by the Woodman camp of this city.

Internment took place in Oak Hill cemetery, and the winter winds will sigh a sad requiem over the sleeper that lies mouldering below.
