Paul Frederick Selberg
Paul F. Selberg, 82, of Waukon died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, April 6 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial was held in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Paul Frederick Selberg was born July 4, 1926 in Waukon, the son of Fred and Nettie (Mostad) Selberg. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 1944.
December 28, 1952 he married Marcella Kolsrud at the Waterville Lutheran Church in Waterville. Paul and Marcella farmed the Selberg farm in Jefferson Township, where they raised crops, dairy cows, beef cows and hogs.
Paul was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he served on many boards and committees. He also served on the board of directors for Scandinavian Mutual Insurance. Paul enjoyed farming, reading, following current and world events, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and following their activities. Paul was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Selberg of Waukon; his children, Kevin (Judy) Selberg of Waukon, Kyle (Sharon) Selberg of Des Moines, and Nyla (Keith) Kennard of Coppell, TX; seven grandchildren, Erik, Laura, Paul, Andrew and Katharine Selberg, and Aaron and Nathan Kennard; and two step-grandchildren, Phil and Scott Delgado. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sidney and Martha Kolsrud.
Honorary casketbearers were Katharine Selberg, and Nathan and Aaron Kennard. Casketbearers were Kevin, Kyle, Erik, Laura, Andrew and Paul Selberg, and Keith Kennard.
