Fredericka Plaht Interred Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Schutte Funeral Home for Mrs. Fredericka Plaht, 77, who passed away on September 30. The rites were conducted by Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig and burial was in Postville cemetery.

Fredericka Wilhelmine Maria Thies Plaht, daughter of Fred Thies, and Sophia Wendt Thies, was born on August 1, 1873 at Elkport, and departed this life on September 30, 1950, at Postville, aged 77 years.

Mrs. Plaht was received into membership in the Lutheran church on March 25, 1888 in the St. Paul's Lutheran congregation of Postville.

Mrs. Plaht was united in marriage with Herman Plaht of Postville on March 24, 1891. To this union five children were born, four of whom survive the passing of their mother.

Mrs. Plaht spent almost her entire life as a resident of Northeast Iowa. Following her marriage to Mr. Plaht the family home was established on a farm two miles southeast of Postville. In 1892 the family home was moved to a farm about one mile south of Postville. In 1900 Mr. and Mrs. Plaht purchased a farm about three and a half miles southwest of Postville where they farmed for 25 years. Mrs. Plaht retired to Postville in 1925 where she resided until the time of her death.

Left to mourn her passing are four children: Edwin Plaht, Mrs. Fred Thoma, Walter Plaht, and Mrs. Alvin Kahle, all of Postville; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Koolman, Sibley.

Mrs. Plaht was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one daughter, Hilma, and two brothers, Charles and Henry Thies.
