The death of Michael Hanson, 76, occurred Thursday at his home in this city, following an extended illness. Deceased was born April 4, 1868 in Norde Land, Norway. At the age of two years he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hanson, to this county, settling on a farm on Round Prairie, where he grew to manhood. He learned the stone mason's trade from his father and followed this line of work until 1905, when he assumed charge of the home farm. On March 1, 1904, his marriage to Miss Anna Larson of that vicinity, took place. She survives him with a daughter, Mrs. Herman Kolstad (Myrtle) of this city, and a son Alton at home. Also left to mourn is a sister, Mrs. John E. Peterson of near Waterville. In the fall of 1940 he gave up the active duties of life and had since resided with his son on a farm west of Waukon. Last November the family moved to this city. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in St.John's Lutheran church conducted by the Rev. P.F.Kjorlaug. Mr. Hanson was a lifelong member of the Old West Paint Creek Church and burial took place in the cemetery near that edifice. The pallbearers were six nephews, namely Herman and Selmer Peterson, Arnold and Roy Bakkum, and Rudolph and Olvin Larson.
