Dorothy Adeline Strub

Dorothy A. Strub, 94, of Lansing died Friday, February 13, 2009 at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing. Funeral services were held Monday, February 16 at the United Methodist Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Lansing.

Dorothy Adeline was born to John and Anna (Welper) Munz at Village Creek October 10, 1914. She attended Village Creek School and graduated from Lansing High School in 1932. She married Urban Strub April 19, 1938 in Dubuque. They farmed in the Village Creek area before moving into Lansing. She worked at the Lansing Button Company until she retired in 1979.

Dorothy was an avid lover of all animals, especially horses and dogs; her own and the lost and stray. She took great pride in her nieces, Judy and Linda, and all their wonderful singing, especially the yodeling. She was a staunch follower of Kee High football and baseball teams.

She is survived by Judy (Dr. Bruce) Wilson of Bemidji, MN, Linda (William) Gordon of Carlton, MN, Bill (Faye) Munchoff of Hudson, David Munchoff of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Adah Steinmetz of Cresco, Elaine (Roger) Doubek of Ridgeway, Dorothy Phipps of Blooming Prairie, MN, Joseph (Evelyn) Munz of Elkader, Howard Sorenson of Lansing, and Ethel Munz of Dubuque.

Also surviving are grand nieces and nephews - they were "her family", Dave and Rebecca (Wilson) Rauenbuehler, Ben, Nathan, and Andrew of Mt. Pleasant, Tom and Marie Wilson, Alec and Nicky of North Aurora, IL, Dan and Jennifer Wilson, Lauren, Ethan, and Carli of Princeton, MN, Sally Wilson of Wilmar, MN, Bill and Sarah Gordon, Gretchen and Miriam of Caledonia, MN, Mitch and Sue (Gordon) Sheehan, Kate and Megan of Hokah, MN.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, George (Lois) Munz, John (Florence) Munz, and Tade (Cleon) Munz; her sisters, Mary (LeRoy) Phipps, Clara (Chum) Bolsinger, Ida (Gerald) Mooney, and Anna (Carl) Peterson; her husband, Urban, April 30, 1989; and Sandra Sorenson, Merle Phipps, Francis Munz, Leonard Steinmetz, and Arthur Munz.
