Charles H. Fetketter, 85, of Eitzen, Minn., died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse.
He was born April 4, 1923 in French Creek Township, Allamakee County, Iowa, to Walter and Ella (Krueger) Fetketter. On October 10, 1950, Charles married Delores Kasten in Eitzen, Minn. Together they farmed in French Creek Township until 1976 when they moved to Brownsville Ridge, rural Hokah, Minn. Charles and Delores continued farming on Brownsville Ridge until 1991 when they retired and moved to Eitzen. Charles was a member of the Eitzen Senior Citizens. He also was a member of the Caledonia United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of over 58 years, Delores of Eitzen, Minn; seven children, Carol (Kermit) Renk of New Albin, Iowa, Cherie (Gordon) Schroeder of Caledonia, Minn., Connie (Allen) Meiners of Eitzen, Nancy Berns of Postville, Iowa, David (Cheryl) Fetketter and Darryl Fetketter, both of Dorchester, Iowa, and Dennis Fetketter of Caledonia, Minn; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Eugene “Gene” Berns; and a sister, Lillian (Donald) Kermeen.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 9, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Caledonia United Methodist Church. Pastor Mark Bengtson and Pastor Sharon Goetzinger officiated. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa. Friends called at Caledonia United Methodist Church on Sunday, Febrauary 8 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, February 9 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia, was in charge of arrangements.
