Special Dispatch to the Standard
Whitehall, May 3—Monday they community was shocked at the announcement of the death of Mrs. George Barnes, a well-known and respected lady of this city. Mrs Barnes was ill at the time but it was not thought to be of a serious nature. Death came unexpectedly. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Catholic Church, the Rev. Frankly of Helena conducting them. The esteem in which Mrs. Barnes was held was clearly shown by the many floral offerings and the large number who were on hand to attend the services. Mrs. Barnes was born in Lansing, Iowa 38 years ago and was married in Butte in 1899. She was a lady who was well liked by everybody who knew her and will be sadly missed in the community as a good neighbor.
