John F. Grady

John Francis Grady, 82, a retired farmer, passed away at his Irish Ridge farm home late Saturday evening, December 3, 1960.

He was born April 25, 1878 in Fairview Township, Allamakee County, the son of Patrick and Lucretia Tucker Grady.

Mr. Grady and Mary McAndrews were married 54 years ago this Nov. She survives as do four sons, Francis of Monona, Edward of Harpers Ferry, Raymond of McGregor, and Joseph of LaCrosse, besides one sister, Mrs. George Schofield. One brother Wille, and five sisters preceeded him in death. Mayme Kielty, Anna Geraghty, Clara McCarthy and Nellie and Lizzie Grady.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 6th at 9:30 am at St. Patricks Catholic church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Father William Menster sang the Requiem Mass with Rev. Francis Phelan of McGregor and Rev. Leander Rieko of Cherry Mound in the Sanctuary.

Sister Mary Benigeca and Student Choir of St. Patricks sang the funeral Mass with Donald Scheffert and James Schofield acting as altar boys.

Pallbearers were six grandsons, Ronald, James, Robert, Lawrence, Bernard and Louis Mark Grady.

Mr. Grady was Fairview township clerk and served on the county election board over 35 years, besides numerous other offices.

Numerous McGregor residents were in attendance at the funeral, including Mr. and Mrs. Ed McAndrew, Jim and William J. Geraghty, Hugh McGuire, Mrs. Helen Reuter, Clair Miller Catherine and Ellen O'Rieley, John Siegele and Mrs. Cecil Heck.
