Samuel Bechtel Is Taken Saturday
Paralytic Stroke and Flu Are Fatal To farmer of Center Township
Samuel Bechtel of Center township, passed away Saturday at the Bakkum clinic Following a six days illness. His death was caused by a stroke of paralysis and the flu.
Samuel Bechtel was born May 6, 1861, on a farm near Church, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bechtel. He attended the rural schools of the county. He lived on the home farm in Center township all his life. He was never married.
He was a member of the Congregational church at Church since 1880, and for many years taught a class in Sunday school.
He is survived by the following brothers and sisters, Matthew Bechtel of Lansing, Joseph Bechtel, Miss Celia Bechtel and Mrs. Charles Zimmerman, all of Church.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Congregational church at Church, with the Reverend Henry C. Marks officiating. Interment was in the Lansing Ridge cemetery.
The casket bearers were Fred Zimmerman, Charles Schellhammer, Fremond Bechtel, William Rutkinier, Theodore Gruber and Joseph Martin.
Out of town relatives who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Boose and family of New Hampton.
