Obituary-- Frank Edward Goettel

Frank Edward Goettel, son of Carl and Henrietta Goettel, was born Feb. 15, 1867 on Mays Prairie, Allamakee county, Iowa. Here he received his schooling and was affiliated with and joined the Mays Prairie Methodist Church, of which his parents were pioneers in building.

On Nov. 16, 1892 he was united in marriage to Emma Gramlich. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Della and Lila. When they came to Lansing they were affiliated with the Methodist and Federated Churches. Mrs. Goettel passed away in November, 1942.

Grandpa Goettel was well known for his kindness and loving understanding. His presence will be deeply missed by his loved ones and many friends. On the afternoon of Sept. 11, 1948 he passed from this life in the same peaceful manner in which he lived. He reached the age of 81 years, 6 months and 27 days.

Loved ones who mourn his passing are his two daughters, Della, Mr. A. A. Pohlman of Lansing, and Lila, Mrs. Leslie Watson of Mason City. One sister Marie, Mrs. Frank L. May of Lansing; and one grandson, Robert Watson of Mason City, Besides these there are nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and loyal friends who are grateful for the life he lived and the precious memory he leaves.

The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from the Burke funeral Chapel to the Federated Church at 2 with Rev. Calvin Willemssen officiating. Special vocal selections by James Sires and Mrs. E. H. Middendorf of new Albin were rendered, with Miss Evelyn Lenz organist. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery with Con Casey, Ed. Schutz, Joseph Weipert, John Schafer, Carl Hurm and James Peterson as pall bearers.

Among the many out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral services were : Mrs. Leslie Watson and son Robert, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. John Luense and Mrs. Christina Gramlich, Greeley; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fritz and daughter Ivah, Edgewood; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lenz, Mabel, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Dee, Mrs. Will Goettel, Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. Paul L. Pohlman and Mr. Sigurd Meyer, New Albin; Mr. William Munchoff, Maywood, Ill.
