Mrs. W. H. Kerndt
Lena Nierling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Nierling, was born in French Creek Township, Allamakee County, Iowa, February 19th, 1866, and departed this life October 5th, 1923, aged 57 years, 7 months and 16 days.
She was united in marriage to Wm. H. Kerndt May 19th, 1891. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband and six children, Herman, Marie, Leslie, Tade, Willard and Clarence, all of which are at home except Herman who resides on a nearby farm in Center township. Also three brothers, J. J. Nierling at Jamestown, N. D.; W. F. Nierlling at Webster City; and A. T. Nierling at Waukon; three sisters, Mary Tillmoney at Ledyard, Iowa; Louisa Tillmoney and Carrie H. Nierling, both of Wells, Minnesota; and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
She was a lover of home, and in her aim and ambition in life she succeeded in that she made the home pleasant and ideal for her family.
She was a good wife and mother and was ever a ready hostess to relatives and friends, of which she had many, and in her passing the home has lost a loving wife and mother, and the neighborhood and community a kind helper and friend.
The funeral at 2 P.M. Monday from her late home was largely attended, Rev. Kegel offciating and burial taking place in the family lot in the Lansing Ridge cemetery.
