Walter J. Elsheimer, 93, of New Albin died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be Friday, June 20 at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Church of Peace, Crooked Creek township, rural Freeburg, MN. Rev. Dr. William J. Reese will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the New Albin Townhouse and Chapel Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, MN is in charge of arrangements.
Walter was born January 7, 1915 in Crooked Creek township, Houston County, MN to Philip and Bertha (Neumann) Elsheimer, Sr.
On October 12, 1945 he married Edna Neumann at the Peace Church in Crooked Creek and they celebrated over 62 years of marriage. Together they farmed in Crooked Creek township all of their lives. Walter also had a love for his horses and he used them in farming his land.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of New Albin; one daughter, Faye (Keith) Beneke of New Albin; four grandchildren, Brian, Tony, Russell, and Donna; and one sister, Bertha Elsheimer of Hokah, MN.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Wayne; one sister, Louise Richards; and three brothers, Philip Jr., August, and Carl Elsheimer.
