James Hughes

James Hughes, 86, of Wantagh, Long Island, NY entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 6, 2008 after a long, courageous battle with heart disease. A memorial service with military rites and a flag presentation will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing immediately following the Lansing Memorial Day program Monday, May 26. Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend. Burial will take place in the Boeckh family plot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.

James was born in Cleveland, OH October 4, 1921. He grew up in Albany, NY, graduating from Albany High School in 1939. He attended Iowa State College and pursued a career as an electrical engineer, working for television stations in Columbus, OH and New York City and completing a 29-year career with Airborne Instruments Laboratory of Long Island, NY.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, the former Dorothy Barthell, whom he married September 4, 1949. He is also survived by his two sons, Roger and Donald; and three grandchildren.
