Edwin Price 1918-2008
Edwin Price, 90, of Lime Springs passed away Monday, March 31, 2008 at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco. Funeral services were held Friday, April 4 at the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs.
Edwin Ivor Price was born February 18, 1918 to Thomas E. and Florence Price in Lime Springs. He graduated from Lime Springs High School in 1935 and worked in his father's grocery store for several years. Edwin enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1945. He served on several ships in the Atlantic and Pacific theater during WWII.
April 11, 1943 Edwin and Edythe Peterson were united in marriage. To this union two daughters, Jane Anne and Anita Marie, and one son, John Thomas, were born.
Edwin and Edythe were in partnership with his father in the grocery business from 1947-1960. They became sole owners of the business in 1960, retiring in 1982. Edwin was a member of the Presbyterian Church until its closing in 1994. During that period he sang in the church choir, served as Elder and Trustee, and various other committees. He was currently a member of the Lime Springs Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir. Edwin was a lifetime member of the Legion Post 545. He enjoyed music, golf, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was also a member of the State Line Men's Chorus for many years.
He is survived by his wife Edythe; two daughters, Jane (Jens) Kallevang of Waukon and Anita (Kipp) Skaden of Culver City, CA; one son, John (Alice) Price of Sioux City; two sisters, Mabel Hunnicutt and Evelyn Jones; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tudor; and a granddaughter, Jessica Kallevang.
