Mary Therese Davy, 79, of Brownsville, MN passed away Friday, March 14, 2008 at Fransiscan-Skemp Health Care Facility in La Crosse, WI. A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, March 18 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brownsville, MN. Fr. Gregory Leif officiated, with burial at Veteran's Cemetery.
Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to be determined by the family at a later date.
She was born in Harpers Ferry August 8, 1928 to Charles and Josephine (Martelle) Traversey. She married Romis J. Davy October 18, 1948 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry, and they celebrated 51 years of marriage together.
Mary was employed by The Company Store, formerly Gillette Industries, for over 40 years until she retired in 2003 at the age of 75 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Church in Brownsville, MN. Her hobbies and interests included sewing, reading books by James Herriot, watching basketball (especially Michael Jordan), pets, listening to Big Band music, and visiting with people.
She also was a member of a bowling league, and played on her company bowling team in the 1960's. Her first year on the team in 1966 she won a trophy for the most improved bowler. Mary was also very proud of her French Canadian ancestry and traced her family back to one of the three oldest families in Canada.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Michelle (John) Hompertz of Spring Grove, MN and Jeanne Marie (Jack) Farnham of Brownsville, MN; a son, Joseph Davy of La Crescent, MN; three sisters-in law, Vi Traversy of Harpers Ferry, Alice Bennet of West Covina CA, and Marie Campbell of Rodessa, LA; and many treasured nieces and nephews living in the local area as well as across the country.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Romis, October 19, 1999; three sisters, Estelle Quillin, Rosella Poloni and Regina DeFendi; and three brothers, Linus, Melvin, and Thomas.
