Ruby Robbins

Funeral services for Ruby Robbins were held Thursday, November 14, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend Gary Catterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor, IA.

Ruby Olive (nee Drallmeier) Robbins, the daughter of Henry Fred Drallmeier and Emma Mina (nee Haltmeyer) Drallmeier, was born September 20, 1906 at McGregor, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2002 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. She had reached the age of 96 years, one month and 23 days.

Ruby graduated from the McGregor high School in 1925. On September 19, 1925 she was married to Harold Fields. To this union two sons were born, Donald and Bob. Ruby and Harold were divorced and she married Lester Robbins on December 4, 1945.

Ruby came to Postville in 1946, where she was employed at the Postville Locker. She later opened a dress shop, which she operated until her retirement.

Ruby was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and the Women of the Church and a past member of the Business and Professional Women's organization.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Harold Fields and Lester Robbins, a son, Donald Fields, two brothers, Victor Drallmeier and Carlton Drallmeier, two sisters, Emma Mary Drahn and Helen Marie Gillmore.

Surviving are a son, Bob L. Fields and wife, Patricia of Warren, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Michael (Sheilah) Fields, Kim (Ann) Fields, Debra (John) Edling, Vicki (Wilbur) Frederoski and Robert Timothy (Diana) Fields; ten great grandchildren, Erika and Ian Fields, Johnny, Bryon and Derek Edling, Joshua and Justin Frederoski, Nikki, Jeffrey and Jessie Fields; one great granddaughter, Kendra, and a daughter-in-law, Inez Fields of Monona, Iowa.
