Obituary in Waukon Republican Standard newspaper, August 25, 1920:

"J. J. CROWE DEAD

J. J. Crowe, an old and highly respected resident of Taylor Township, died at Independence, Iowa, last Saturday morning, and the remains were brought to Waukon on Sunday, and Tuesday were laid at rest in the cemetery at Paint Rock.

Mr. Crowe had been in very poor health for a long time and spent much time in the hospital at La Crosse a year ago, and a few months ago went to Independence for medical treatment. His ailment was of such a nature that medical science was unavailing and the end came peacefully Saturday morning. "
