MRS. JACOB LEUI
Mrs. Jacob Leui, 79, a native of Austria and a resident here since 1863, passed away Saturday. The funeral was held Monday at St. Bridget's Catholic church and interment was in the Grand Meadow cemetery.

The people of Postville were shocked and saddened last Saturday morning to hear that Mrs. Jacob Leui, an old and highly respected citizen of this city, had suddenly been summoned at 5:45 that morning., the summons coming suddenly.
Anna Heirigs was born in Austria, May 12, 1843, and with her parents, a brother and a sister, came to America in 1855, locating at Mcgregor, where the subject of this sketch continued to reside until her marriage to Jacob Leui, April 21, 1863, when they located on a farm in Grand Meadow township, which was their home continuously thereafter until the death of Mr. Leui on July 26, 1896, when she came to Postville to reside. Six children were born to them of whom two daughters and a son preceded her in death, and John H. Leui , Anna H. Leui and Mrs. E. C. Sonnkalb, all of this city, survive, as do also three step children, Wm H. Leui, Mrs. Mary Kluss and Miss Caroline Leui. She is also survived by two brothers, Frank Heirigs of Parkston, S.D., and John Heirigs of Viborg, S.D., eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The funeral was held Monday morning, June 5th, from St. Bridget's Catholic church of this city, of which deceased had been a most devout member for many years. Father J. J. Clune celebrating Solemn Requiem Mass assisted by Father Hogan Greene as deacon and Father Hehir of Clermont as sub-deacon, and was largely attended by many sorrowing friends. Interment was made in Grand Meadow cemetery.
Mrs. Pauline Peikert of McGregor and Miss Agnes Crow of Clermont and many other out of town friends were here to pay a last tribute of respect to the memory of this good woman.
