CHARLES ALPHEUS ABEL
Was born in Pittsburg, Pa., April 2, 1856, and died in Chicago, Ill., Nov. 26, 1906, aged 50 years, 7 months and 24 days.
He came to Iowa at the age of nine years and lived in Hardin and vicinity until he had attained his majority. When entering upon his business career he came to Postville, where he made his home for eighteen years. In 1899 he with his family removed to Marion, Iowa, where he resided for two years, then built a home in Cedar Rapids, where he remained until three months ago when the home was sold and a new home found in Chicago. His rapid decline and sudden death were caused by hemorrhage of the brain. He leaves his wife, Cora C. Abel, and only child, Mrs. G. Avery Reeder, of San Francisco, Cal., to mourn his loss.
The remains reached Postville on the forenoon train Monday and were immediately taken to Postville cemetery, where after a brief service they were deposited in the grave. Charley Abel was well known to all Postville people, and as a buyer of stock for a number of years extended his acquaintance very generally over a considerable scope of country. He was a man of splendid physique and manly bearing, an agreeable companion and warm friend, possessed of good business capabilities and in an honorable way acquired a competence of this world's good. With many friends we regret that he is no more.
The family wish to thank the friends for their service in laying to rest the body of their beloved husband and father.
