Mrs. ERNEST (Josephine Gertrude Hammel) INGLES
Josephine Gertrude Ingles, 86, of Waterloo, formerly of Waukon, died Wed., Jan. 9, 2002 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.
Funeral services were held Sat., Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral home in Waukon with Rev. Neil Mulock officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Josephine Gertrude Ingles was born Jan. 19, 1915 in New Albin, the daughter of Charles and Mae (LaTronch) Hammel. She attended rural elementary schools in the New Albin area.
On Nov. 28, 1934 she married Ernest E. Ingles in New Albin. In 1943 they moved to Waukon where she was a cook at the S & D Cafe many years before retiring in 1978. Since Ernie's death in 1986 she has lived in Waterloo.
Josephine was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Waterloo as well as The Golden Years. She loved to cook, especially baking pies. She also enjoyed sewing, working crossword puzzles, reading, and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; and infant son, Burdette Donald; two sisters, Rita German and Mary Bedner; and two brothers, Vernon and Richard Hammel.
Survivors include two daughters, Ida (Roger) Thomas and Lucille Weber; and a son, John (Juanita) Ingles, all of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister, Robert Hammel and Irene Lewey, both of Waukon.
Her grandchildren will serve as honorary casketbearers. Casketbearers are Dick and David Lewey, Bob, Floyd, and Jim Ingles, and Jerry Heck.
