Clifford J. Armstrong
Clifford J. Armstrong, 82, formerly of Tomah, WI, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at his home in Mesa, AZ. Memorial services were held Saturday, January 19 at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home in Tomah, WI, with the Very Reverend Father Steven J. Kachel officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery in Tomah, WI with military honors by Curtiss-McNutt VFW Post #1382.
Clifford was born February 23, 1925 to Hiram and Gladys (Noyes) Armstrong in Waterloo, NE. He was united in marriage to Alice M. Welsh February 14, 1953 in Waukon. She preceded him in death January 27, 1995. Nine members of the Welsh family and many nieces and nephews attended the funeral.
Prior to his retirement he worked in Medical Admissions at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tomah, WI. Clifford served in the U.S. Army in both WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Purple Heart during his military service.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen (Leo) Klosterman of Dodgeville, WI; two sons, Michael (Denise) of New Lisbon, WI and David (Dorothy) of Waunakee, WI; four grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, and Elizabeth Armstrong, and Cole Klosterman; two brothers, Norman (Brenda) Armstrong of Waterloo, NE and Robert Armstrong of Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters, Barb Trofholz and Anna Mae McKenna, both of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, John Armstrong.
