A mass of requiem was said Tuesday, December 21 at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick;s church in Waukon for Mrs. Donald Deeny, 62, of Waukon. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frederic Heles was the officiating priest and burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lycurgus.
Mrs. Deeny died Sunday, December 20, (1970) in Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital. She was born Bernice Lucille Decker October 11, 1908 in Allamakee county and was a daughter of George and Annie Bell Decker. She graduated from Waukon High School and was employed as a teacher.
June 8, 1931 she married Donald Deeny in Dubuque. He survives with two daughters, Mrs. James (Donna) May, Jr. of Waukon and Mary of Clinton. Two grandchildren, a brother Ernie Decker of Waukon and three sisters, Mrs. John (Thelma) Berg of Postville, Mrs. Fred (Doris) Fish of Waukon and Mrs. Lester (Laura) Fish of Luana, also survive.
A daughter Jane Ann, and two brothers, Harold and Elmer Decker, preceded her in death.
E. C. Sullivan, Maurice Hart, Richard Schmidt, Curtis Nordheim, Charles Howe and Joe Curtin were casket bearers.
Martin Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
