Funeral services were held for Mrs. J. H. McShane Thursday afternoon, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church at Luana, with the Rev. E. Wayne Hilmer officiating. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leon Chamberlain, Earl Miller, Joe Land, Everett Bollman, Page Dull and Lloyd Bacon. Flower girls were Mrs. Everett Bollman, Mrs. Lawrence Schultz, Mrs. Guy Hamm and Mrs. Delbert Suckow.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. & Mrs. Glenn McGraw of Mason City, Mr. & Mrs. Howard Wilson of Clarksville, and Mr. & Mrs. Guy Hamm of Dubuque.
Adda E. McShane, 74, passed away Monday evening, April 26, (1954), McGregor hospital following a complication of ailments of several years duration. A daughter of Mr. & Mrs. W. W. Smith, she was born March 25, 1880, in Franklin township, Allamakee County, near Luana. Most of her life was spent in Allamakee county. After completing her education she taught school for several years in the Franklin and Linton township school districts. She was baptized at and became an active member of the E. U. B. church of Forest Mills, Franklin township, and in later years attended the Methodist church at Luana.
On November 7, 1906 she was united in marriage to J. H. McShane at the Methodist Church in Volney. They were engaged in farming in Allamakee county.
They had six children; Mrs. Lula Bundrick of Luana, Mrs. Grace Barr of Waukon, Donald of Luana and Mrs. Donald Lamborn of Postville, all of whom with their father, survive. Lois Marguerite, age three and Nesia Darling, age five, preceded their mother in death.
She is also survived by two brothers, M. E. Smith and Clinton Smith, and one sister, Alda Smith, all of Luana, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, April 29, at 2 p.m., at the Methodist Church at Luana for Mrs. Adda E. McShane, 74, who passed away at the McGregor hospital April 26. Rev. E. Wayne Hilmer, pastor of the Luana Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in the Smithfield cemetery.
Adda E. McShane, age 74 years, one month, one day, passed away Monday evening, April 26, 1954 at the McGregor hospital, following a complication of ailments of several years duration.
A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Smith, she was born March 25, 1880, in Franklin township, Allamakee county, near Luana, Iowa. Most of her life having been spent in Allamakee county.
