Hazel Rush

Memorial services were held on March 7, 1973, at the Rossville Presbyterian Church with Rev. R. W. Pacholke of the Volney United Methodist Church officiating.

Pallbearers were Lester Fish, George Smith, Ray Klees, Matt J. Freilinger, Lloyd Bechtel, Forrest Henderson, Cloy Gericke and William Powell. Interment was in the Rossville Cemetery.

Hazel Pearl Hefner, daughter of Peter and Edna (Stafford) Hefner was born at Volney, Ia., on March 21, 1894. She had been in failing health for the past year and passed away on March 5, 1973, at Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa, at the age of 78.

She was united in marriage to Dewey Rush on June 27, 1923. They farmed in the Rossville vicinity until her husband's death on March 18, 1958. She continued to live on the home farm except for some time with her daughter.

Mrs. Rush was a member of the Volney United Methodist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey; one daughter, Delores; her son-in-law, Jim Prouty; her parents, and two brothers, Murel and Leo.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Elmer, of Rossville; one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Lauryne) Prouty of Marquette, Iowa; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Elmer, of McGregor; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Helen) Moore of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Earl (Clara) Allert of Monona.
